I just read my previous post, it’s heavy and it feels like a million years ago because SO MUCH HAS CHANGED!

Basically a few hours after I wrote it, with the world on my shoulders, I had a long overdue chat with my coach and discovered the concept of “vicarious trauma”.

As soon as I heard of it, a whole lot of stuff started to make sense.

I finished the book!!! The stressful end to 2013 and CHOCOLATE!

I am curled up on a black leather sofa – with Maya the very-licky-spaniel asleep beside me. A wild storm batters the huge windows around me and drowns the sound of the rough grey ocean just metres away.

We are house sitting on the coast of Wellington, New Zealand and after a few days laptop free,  I write the first words of 2014.

My favourite food is sushi.

Most places we have been to in Latin America unsurprisingly don’t have sushi and the ones that do have not been great. I remember clearly the amazing sushi we stumbled upon in Antigua, Guatemala and that was over a year ago!

Still Heartbreaking – 3 Years On


Yesterday was a tough day for me, the 3rd anniversary of the death of my little brother Ethan.

I am fine, and fine and then a few times a year something triggers me and I am left crying into my soft boiled eggs.

On Monday a woman who is staying here, shared that her husband died 5 years ago. She was upbeat about the conversation as she translated Portuguese into Spanish (more…)
